This fund raiser is put on by a group of guys on Lake Texoma dedicated to keeping this impoundment one of the best Striped Bass fisheries in the World.
Each year they host an annual Fish Fry to raise money to give to the ODWC. This money is matched by the state 3 to 1 and is 100% designated for Lake Texoma.
This means that for every $1.00 raised turns into $4.00 with the state's matching funds!
The local guys at ODWC use this money to buy equipment used to maintain this great fishing lake and IS GREATLY NEEDED AND Appreciated.
Last year's event was such a success that we've decided to really take advantage of the State's matching funds and do some extra things to raise money.
Below are some of the projects currently under way to put some money into the fund.
Please take some time to check out these links and do whatever you can to help us out.
We have guide trips donated this year by Jeff "JD" Lyle, Ricky Sproat, James Allen, Mike Haddock, and Mark Macnamara. Once a month beginning in April, one of these trips will be made available by the guide. Each raffle ticket will be available for a $5.00 donation, or five tickets for $20.00. Each drawing will be limited to the first 200 entries, and will be conducted on the last day of that month. The ticket drawn will be good for one trip for two people with that guide, to be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon date between the time of the drawing and Dec. 31, 2006. As each monthly raffle approaches, the guide who donated the trip will post who to contact to make your donations, and where to get your tickets. Can you get a trip with more than one of the guides for a mere $5.00 a month donation? If you're lucky enough! Multiple winners are welcome! Maybe someone will hit a "GRAND SLAM"!
2007 Raffle winner was Jim Goodman..Congratulations Jim. (as soon as we go out, I'll post some pictures)
We've already raised over $14,000 dollars as of June 1st. This means a total of $52,000 dollars is already waiting to be donated!
Great job so far, let's keep it going!
One of our goals is to build 2-3 public cleaning stations a year.
With $2,592.00 that was collected (donated) prior to the 2005 fish fry, and the $2,506.00 that was donated at the fish fry (Salsa Purchases, Signature Slab purchases, donations at the sign in table, silent auction sales) we more than met our goatl of $3,500.00 to donate to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife and Conservation for them to purchase this new Yamaha 225 for use on their boat here on Lake Texoma.
With the matching Federal Grant, Sportfish Restoration Funds money at 3 to 1, this made a total of $20,392.00 available to purchase equipment for use on Lake Texoma.
We wish to THANK ALL OF YOU for your participation in this great fund raiser.
In talking to Paul Mauck, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation would like to see enough monies donated to purchase a new, larger boat (to go with the new motor shown above) to be use on Lake Texoma.
Mail checks for donations to (along with a note stating what the donations are from) so he may keep a record of the total donations for this fund raiser:
The local Game Wardens on both the TX. and OK. sides of the lake are not part of the Wildlife and Conservation programs, and therefore do not meet the requirements for the 3 to 1 Federal match on monies donated. We do feel though, that these guys need our support also and therefore we are trying to help them out.
Things we get for them are not bought with any of the matching monies that are donated. These funds are seperate and are needed also. If you would like to help the wardens get equipment that they don't have but need, please let us know if you want all or part of your donation to go towards their fund.
We helped Jay Harvey, (OK. warden) get a VHF radio. and below is a picture of Dale Moses (TX. Warden) with a new GPS sonar unit he needed for his boat.
